Do I need to allow for a border around the artwork?
Since the card size is 3.5" x 5" with an image area of 3.125" x 4.75", there is a white border already around the card (.1875" at the top and bottom and .125" on each side).
How much bleed do I need to allow for?
The cards that comprise a card pack are printed on a sheet next to each other, not printed individually. Cards that bleed over the image area are not permitted. Please ensure artwork is 3.5" x 5" with an image area of 3.125" x 4.75".
Can I use images from my website for the card pack artwork?
Usually, images used on a website are a lower resolution than required for printing. Most website artwork is 72 DPI and printing specs require 300 DPI artwork. Lower resolution artwork can look pixelated and fuzzy when printed. Please go back to your original high resolution photo to upload for printing purposes.
I have a product, but I don't have photos or any other artwork to send. What services does your company offer?
Discuss your needs with your account executive. Products shipped to our home office can be photographed for use on card pack artwork. Additionally, other creative services are available to clients.
What is the charge for artwork?
Marketshare staffs two full-time graphic artists that are experienced in designing a card tailored to suit your needs. Our charge to create a card is $500, however, card art created by our artists and used in Marketshare card deck programs will be provided to the advertiser AT NO CHARGE. In the event the advertiser wants to use artwork created by Marketshare for other use, we then charge the one-time fee of $500 to release the art.
How do I submit artwork?
You can upload artwork to our FTP site(s):
Click here to upload new artwork for Marketshare Publications, Inc.
Click here to upload new artwork for Direct Response Decks, Inc.
Follow the directions on the site. When your artwork is received, it will be reviewed for resolution and size before printing. Make sure to choose the correct deck and issue from the "This artwork is for" dropdown box.
I have a card that I ran in another insert program - can I just use that?
Discuss the size requirements with your account executive. Generally, the card would need to be reformatted to fit our specific size.
I'd like to use your internet portal to help track my web traffic from the postcard. What information do I need for my card art?
Your account executive will have some customized information for you that will be applied to your specific card within the card pack. Discuss the objectives of your artwork with your account representative, and you will be given a portal address to include on your artwork.
Do I need a FIM and barcode on the reply side of the card?
A FIM and barcode are recommended because the delivery rate of responses is increased. Our creative department can create these and place them on your artwork.
I am considering a Business Reply Format for the reply side of the card. How do I get started?
Discuss the pros and cons of the Business Reply Format with your account executive. If a Business Reply Format is the best option, your local post office can issue permits, set up an account and provide all the information needed.
Can I have 4-color on the reply side of the card?
While 4-color is available on the reply side of the card, the cost is an additional $700.00. Advertisers rarely choose to do this, as it is the color side that is face up in the deck and this is the side that catches attention. Spending the additional charge for the color on the second side is really not necessary to generate response.
I am putting the return name and address block on the reply side of the postcard. Where should it be placed?
To ensure the best deliverability of information, consider your placement of the name and address block. Postal indicias are less likely to interfere with the customer's name and address information when placed lower or vertically. See Examples
